The book covers all the items included into the programmes of mechanics of materials provided at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University. It gives the main knowledge necessary for understanding the subject, provides information on the laws and assumptions used for obtaining some new statements or formulae, however, derivations or proofs are mostly omitted. Two solutions of problems in the Appendix serve as examples of presenting the students’ homeworks according to some tasks. A Lithuanian-English vocabulary presented at the end of the book could be of some use in reading Lithuanian textbooks.
