Description

The book describes global (affine, projective, polynomial) and local geometric transformations, presents the examples of single transformations and their compositions and considers the application of various interpolation methods (nearest neighbor, bilinear, bicubic, Lanczos) for transformed images and their quality evaluation. The book discusses the application cases of geometric transformations for the reconstruction of distorted images, analyzes practical aspects of image registration and their programming codes and suggests practical examples using MatLab™ programming tools. The book is prepared for the series of lectures on the Engineering of Digital Images aimed at postgraduate students of technological sciences, especially at those of engineering informatics. The book can be useful for other postgraduate and graduate students of technological sciences dealing with image processing and performing scientific investigations.
