“Arts of Creative Communication” is a provocative collection of articles aimed at a better and more complex understanding of creativity and communication. The collection is written using a multidisciplinary approach spanning several disciplines including linguistics, psychology, sociology, education, philosophy, science and art. The underlying themes of the collection is that communication is an art form and not only a technical ability; that creativity is essential in communication and effective communication goes beyond mere transmission of information; and there are various methods and techniques in creative communication, not just one single approach. The collection provides the philosophical foundations that underpin human communication and understanding and touches on key topics like the nature of images and representation, levels of awareness, interpretation and meaning-making, phenomenology and experience, language and symbolism.

Associate Professor, Nanjing University
The “Arts of Creative Communication” is a text with a broad sweep that transforms philosophy; probing transcendental awareness and cross-fertilization of civilizations, laying out the givenness, the taken for granted, but necessary for creative change. The text explores the fields of art and communication as primal-archaic, magical-symbolic, mythic-story telling, and late modern rational-mental, as explicated by Jean Gebser and Alexei Losev, among others. The themes are varied, moving from the predominance of the mythic in a “rational” world, to the power of a creative empathetic educational experience and the intersubjective life world in its deficient mode as revealed in issues of identity. This tran-scendental awareness provides a “foundation” for understanding and working with the lived world.
