Course Methodology of Scientific Research (VVEIM17401)) annotation

The Research Methodology subject is designed to provide an in-depth analysis of the concept of science and scientific research, as well as the logic and structure of research. The subject covers the stages of empirical research, problem formulation, hypothesis development (if applicable), research design selection, data collection strategies and methods, methodological features of quantitative and qualitative research, principles of data analysis, and ensuring validity and reliability. It also addresses research ethics and contemporary research trends, including the application of artificial intelligence and automated analytical tools for data collection, processing, and result interpretation. The subject includes principles for interpreting research results and preparing to present their findings in a verbal and written form. 

Aim of course

To familiarize students with the theoretical foundations of scientific research, methodological principles, and practical applications; to develop the ability to independently plan, organize, and conduct empirical research using quantitative and qualitative methods, ensuring validity, reliability, and compliance with ethical standards, as well as integrating modern technologies, including artificial intelligence tools, in data analysis and interpretation. 

Learning outcomes: Student will understand the process of social studies, their methodology and methods and the possibilities of using them. On the basis of scientific literature students will be able to formulate and analyze economic problems in methodological aspect; Student will be able to properly choose and justify the research methodology and data collection methods; Student will be able to identify scientific problem, goals, and tasks. They will be able to develop research hypothesis and research methodology. They will be able to apply complex research methods and technologies; Student will be able to critically evaluate the research results, draw conclusions; Based on the results of the study student will be able to make decisions in order to solve scientific problems.

Basic knowledge and skills required to study this course (if applicable): Mathematics. 

Faculty and course volume in credits: A 6-credit course of study for the Master's degree in the Faculty of Business Management.

Upon completion of the course with a positive assessment, a Certificate of Completion will be issued, which is transferable to any higher education institution. Upon completion of the course module without a final assessment, a certificate of completion of the course is issued.
