Course  Strategic Theory of Organization (VVVKM17100) annotation

The course examines theories of organizations and explores the application of theoretical approaches in the context of contemporary business organizations and their practices. It introduces organization theory by examining the relationship between the individual, the organization, and its environment in the modern economy. Models of organizational management are discussed, including organizational growth models, configurations, partnerships, and networking within ecosystems. Special focus is paid to technology-driven business organizations and their management.

Aim of course

Applying the theoretical and practical knowledge of organizational theories to strategic decision-making, organizational management, the design of ecosystem relationships, the development of new organizations and value chains, and the analysis of competitor and partner behaviour. 

Learning outcomes: Ability to critically evaluate and apply organizational theories to address complex organizational challenges; Apply organizational process management models to assess strategic alternatives and their implications for organizations and their performance in the  ecosystem; Analyse and model organizational behaviour,  use it for decision making to drive organizational growth and effectiveness.

Basic knowledge and skills required to study this course (if applicable): Basic knowledge of management and organizational behaviour, gained through prior studies or professional experience. Familiarity with contemporary trends in business, understanding business  models of contemporaty organizations, decision-making and organizational  practices, will help participants successfully engage with the course.

Faculty and course volume in credits: A 6-credit course of study for the Master's degree in the Faculty of Business Management.

Postmodernist organization theory: postmodernism as a philosophy challenging to organization theory, organization forms for the  new millennium

Neo-modernist organization theory and the New wave. Connectivity and networked organizations. Ecosystem approach for growth. 

From organizational mindset to strategy: knowledge management, relations, innovation for growth

List of the Course exercise topics:

Practical assignments  (case studies) on selected aspects of the New wave theory : internationalization, resources and capabilities  for competitiveness and  resilience of organizations, ecosystem approach. 

Upon completion of the course with a positive assessment, a Certificate of Completion will be issued, which is transferable to any higher education institution. Upon completion of the course module without a final assessment, a certificate of completion of the course is issued.
