Most of the texts are original, taken from scientific journals, mostly from UN Environment Programme publication “Industry and Environment”and internet sources. Many of them are adapted and abridged. The book includes material dealing with the impacts of industries upon the environment: land contamination, sustainable urban development, the construction industry sustainable food production, energy industry and transport. Students are expected to master the vocabulary, answer the questions to the texts, summarize the texts, discuss on the presented issues, do grammar and lexical exercises. The book is intended for using it in class, as well as for advanced self-study.
