Europos Sąjunga: plėtros procesai/European Union: development processes

The textbook is designed for study programs of various social, humanitarian and technological, as well as other study areas. It can be used as a tool for undergraduate (BSc), graduate and doctoral studies. The purpose of the textbook is the establishment of students wide systematic approach towards European integration, the European Union and its development, as well as towards the processes of modernization of society, socio-economic development, scientific and technological development in the European Union. The processes of enlargement of the European Union are described.

The structure of a textbook is as follows: preface, six chapters, and the final remarks. The first chapter is a general profile of the European Union and its development along with the main transformation trends. The second chapter describes the organizational structure of the European Union, its institutions and decision-making processes, also legal systems, budget, priorities for economic policy, structural support to member states and assistance to candidate countries in a detailed way. The third chapter gives insights into the economic efficiency enhancement, and business internationalization in the European Union. The fourth chapter discusses innovation enhancement and development of knowledge society in the European Union. The fifth chapter analyses improvement possibilities for public administration in the European Union. The sixth chapter covers interpersonal communication and cultural phenomena of the European Union. The final part of a textbook gives the opportunity to check up one’s knowledge, provides tasks for individual work, and methodological recommendations for studies.
