Description

The creation and implementation of specialized electronic intelligent systems for audio and image processing problems are analyzed in the monograph. Electronic intelligent systems are developed proposing original artificial neural networks and their training algorithms, evolutionary computations or specialized techniques. Applications of multilayer perceptrons, radial basis function networks, Kohonen feature maps and ant colonies are studied. Electronic intelligent systems for melisma and accent restoration, voiced speech recognition, impulsive noise detection, nonlinearly distorted two-dimensional gel electrophoresis images alignment, protein spots in the images segmentation, reconstruction, and recognition are created. Original implementations in a field programmable gate array of following systems are presented: Lithuanian speech separate words recognizer and general purpose ant system.

Other presented implementations are: the information system for two-dimensional electrophoresis gel images, visual quality control module for segment liquid crystal displays and the recognizer of vehicle registration plates.

The monograph concisely conveys authors’ R&D experience during last two decades, generalizes achievements of five carried on scientific projects, colligates results reported in five doctoral dissertations and in more than 70 research papers. The publication is intended for researchers, engineers, doctoral and graduate students.
