Course Comparative Economics of Regions (VVEIM23402) annotation

Economic development and the state economic policies in various world’s regions are analyzed in this study course, the comparative analysis of the social economic development processes in the world's region's is presented. 

Aim of course

To provide basic knowledge of comparative analysis of the world's regions economic development and the state economic policies, gain the abilities to apply them in the process of the reasoned economic decisions making in various fields of international trade and international economic relations development, of international investment, innovations and in other fields that are significant to develop the economic activities under conditions of globalization. 

Learning outcomes: Student will be able to analyze scientific literature sources and apply social research methods in assessing the development of world regions. Student will be able to make solutions based on economical engineering knowledge. Student will be able to examine and deal with complex atypical economic tasks, focused on regions economic development conditions occurring problems in a new and unfamiliar environment, having limited information, through innovations. 

Basic knowledge and skills required to study this course (if applicable): Mathematics.

Faculty and course volume in credits: A 6-credit course of study for the Master's degree in the Faculty of Business Management.

Region / country economic growth and development (approaches, theories). Indicators assessing the changes of the economic (structure) in X region / country  

Regional economic development. Regional economic development theories. Factors affecting regional economic development, their interaction. Contemporary concept of regionalization: variety and classifications of the world’s regions 

X region (East Asian and Pacific, European and Central Asian, Latin American and the development trends and economic policies in the Caribbean, Middle East and North Africa, South Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa

International and regional security: challenges, solutions and opportunities

Upon completion of the course with a positive assessment, a Certificate of Completion will be issued, which is transferable to any higher education institution. Upon completion of the course module without a final assessment, a certificate of completion of the course is issued.
